Roadrunner Rundown - Bettie Mann Day

Roadrunner Families,

Next week is a busy one as we make our way quickly toward Winter Break. On Tuesday, we will hold our PTA Meeting for the month of December. Wednesday is Bettie Mann Day, a day we recognize Ms. Bettie Meshack Mann, the first Kindergarten Teacher and first African American Teacher at our school. Ms. Mann was recognized by the City of Austin and AISD Board of Trustees for her work as an educator and is the namesake of our kindergarten wing. We are looking forward to celebrating her legacy at our school and beyond.

On Friday, our phenomenal Assistant Principal, Caitlin Sileo will be getting married! We are incredibly excited for her and her fantastic fiancé, Patrick Salinas. This wedding has been years in the making, as the two of them have navigated wedding planning in the time of a pandemic. Please join us as we congratulate them both on this new chapter in their lives. We couldn’t be more happy for the two of them.

As a reminder, there will be no school for our Roadrunners beginning Monday, December 20th. The last day of classes is on Friday, December 17th and we will see everyone back on Wednesday, January 5th 2022!

Lastly, as we shared in the latest Roadrunner Rundown, we have been fortunate enough to welcome a number of new students from Afghanistan. We have been so excited to have students from several families across all seven grade levels join our school community. We have been asked about ways for our community to support new families.

Please see the following message from Ms. Gilbert:

Over the past few weeks, we have been given the opportunity to serve some families who have recently moved to the United States. These students are part of each grade level at our school. If you would like to provide needed items to our new families, please use the amazon links below. Also, if you would like donate HEB cards you can bring those to the front office. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Gilbert at Thank you!
