Roadrunner Rundown - September 2022

Roadrunner Families,

Next week we will be beginning our Fall Parent Teacher Conferences. Teachers will be taking this time to review student progress, goals for the year ahead, and continue to develop a strong partnership between school and home. Please reach out specifically to your homeroom teacher for scheduling and we appreciate families being mindful of their appointment times as our teachers will be running a tight schedule to accommodate everyone’s needs.

This week we began some additional afterschool offerings, including a variety of tuition-free self managed programs. Big thanks to Adrienne Dula and Anni Knox for organizing these opportunities as well as to our staff and volunteers for providing new after school enrichment options for all of our Roadrunners. We hope to grow these programs in the months and years ahead to provide enrichment of all kinds for the different interests held by our students and our talented staff and community.

Finally, in the weeks ahead I will be sharing information about the 2022 Bond which will be on the ballot this November. I encourage interested members of the community to visit the Austin ISD 2022 Bond Program website for more information at The attached one pager shares information about Russell Lee Elementary specific improvements as well as investments into our McCallum Vertical Team.

Many Thanks,

Caitlin Sileo

School News

Join our PTA

Big thank you to the 120 individuals who have joined our PTA which includes membership to the Texas and National PTA networks advocating for public schools. Make sure you join this week to ensure your voice counts at our next membership meeting of the year. All are welcome to attend meetings, but only members may vote. It only takes $8 and 5 minutes of your time!

Thank you to our community for Stocking the Lounge full of drinks & snacks for our amazing staff Fami-Lee!

Roadrunner Rally

This year, our goal is to "rally" all families to support our school in a way that feels most comfortable to you - by donating money, volunteering time, or offering gifts or services to our school fundraising auction this spring!

Please visit our Roadrunner Rally website to learn more about ways you can contribute to our school community.

Around The Campus

Special Request from Nurse Tori McFadden

We are in need of extra clothes in the nurses' office, specifically,

shorts and t-shirts for boys/girls/gender neutral sizes 4/5, 6/7 and 7/8 as well as socks of all sizes. Thank you!

Volunteer Tutoring

Please sign up to help Afghan moms learn English! Just three minutes a week can really help a mom navigate doctor's appointments, the grocery store, and travel on the bus. We could use help every day but especially on Tuesdays. We meet right before student pick-up, from 2:30 - 3:00pm or stop by anytime to observe or try it out!

Or sign up to help struggling Lee students learn to read. Research has shown that just 30 minutes a week can really help student achievement! We only have 4 volunteers and need many more! Please sign up by Monday, September 26th!

Teacher Favorites & Wishlists

We're still collecting some Teacher favorites lists! If you have a special request for your students teacher's favorite list, reach out to and Julie can help you until we've collected all!

Here's the teacher's classroom wishlists!
